Amanda Williams

Background

Amanda grew up in the 80’s and 90’s dancing in her bedroom to everything from soul, classic rock, country, 80’s new wave, and pop stars like Whitney Houston, Madonna, Prince, and George Michael. She played it LOUD as her family tolerated Smashing Pumpkins and The Cranberries on repeat. She wore flannel and t-shirts over thermals as grunge and alternative music was ushered onto the airwaves and 120 Minutes. She decorated her high school folders with magazine cutouts of her favorite album covers. Mixtapes were made and shared, but the recordings she made of the late night Tulsa alternative radio show, Edge of Insanity, she kept for herself. At that time, high school Amanda wouldn’t have thought that one day she would have a radio show of her own. Over time she discovered that music can really shape you, through your formative years and beyond. These days, Amanda is an avid collector of vinyl and when she isn’t debating with her husband Sterling on whether or not there is too much saxophone in a song, she’s spinning records at events or saving up for a synthesizer to make her own music.
