The Dean, I mean Oscar, Goes To…

todayJanuary 30, 2012

The_Dean

Greendale Community College may be on an extended winter break at the moment, but Dean Pelton is busy as ever.

If you don’t understand that reference, I’ll use layman’s terms. Jim Rash, Dean of Greendale Community College in NBC’s underrated sitcom Community, has been nominated for an Oscar in the Adapted Screenplay category for “The Descendants.”

Rash and his writing partner Nat Faxon worked on the project with director Alexander Payne to bring “The Descendants” to the big screen, and now it’s being considered one of the best films of the year.

The Descendants tells the story of Hawaiian lawyer Matt King, played by George Clooney, and his attempt to find the man his wife, recently in a coma, was having an affair with. While King tries to keep the story from his youngest daughter, he and his eldest daughter search for the culprit.

As far as Community goes, it’s recently been announced that new episodes of the sitcom will return to NBC’s airwaves in March or April. Jim Rash will continue his comedic role as Dean Pelton, possibly with an Oscar in hand.
