A FAN-tastic Music Video

Music videos; by this time everyone knows what they are. An artist takes their most popular songs and creates videos to visualize the story. It’s a great concept and one that MTV made wildly popular in the 1980s. Now MTV may only play shows about Teen Pregnancy, but music videos are still around and artists are finding new and creative ways to make them and to get their fans involved. That’s what local band, The Fabulous Minx, is doing for their song “At The Sock Hop.” The Fabulous Minx, is a 2 man…continue reading →

CMJ Wrap Up

Sorry for the delay, it's been a wild last few days in The Big Apple and now back at home. Let's start back a day four, College Day as CMJ calls it. Thursday was the day of the most interesting panels we had. College Radio Autonomy, Music Director Summit, and College Radio Relevance all were very informative and got ideas spinning for both Josh and I. Now we combine the days. College day was the last of the main panels, but we wanted to do more than just radio, we wanted to experience…continue reading →

CMJ Day 3

Finally! Day 3 in review is here! Wednesday started off with a trip to the NBC Studio for a tour...that didn’t happen. They told us they were booked until 1:30 which is when we had our panel. Luckily we were able to book one for Friday. To kill time, we then went to some great stores, LEGO and Nintendo World. Yes it was just as awesome as it sounds. Following that, we had our first panel of the day which sounded great...until it was another that focused on artists. Nothing against artists, but…continue reading →

CMJ Day 2

Why, hello you. Here is Day Number 2! Tuesday was mostly about education and meetings as it was the official start day of the College Music Journal Music Marathon. We started the day with two panels on the day: “Climbing The Charts: Radio’s Future” and “The Big Picture, An Industry Overview.” The first was really interesting and generated a few new ideas for Josh and I to look into when we get back that might make the station even better than it already is! The second panel wasn’t exactly what we expected as…continue reading →

CMJ Day 1

Greetings from New York. Josh and I will be keeping everyone posted of our week at the College Music Journal Festival, so keep posted right here, Facebook, Twitter (Josh and Garrett) and Instagram. Day 1 started off with a celebrity siting before we even left Tulsa and one who has a connection to Claremore. Congressman Markwayne Mullin just happened to be on the same plane. Not giving away either of our political beliefs, but a celebrity is a celebrity, a congressman is a congressman. We didn’t see a celebrity when we landed in…continue reading →

Desi & Cody & Kickstarter

Kickstarter has changed the way both the music and film industry work. No longer do you have to rely on big studios that take your great idea, put their “great idea” spins on it and ultimately change what you envision. Kickstarters allow the idea makers to keep their creativity at the forefront and, with the help of supporters, fund their project and make it the way they want to. That is what local duo Desi and Cody are doing. Recording at the legendary Church Studios in Tulsa, this will be the first LP…continue reading →

New Web Series, “RSU Radio In Studio”

Here at 91.3 we take pride in playing some of the great music that can be found in our local scene. You can hear local music in our regular rotation every hour (unless it’s a specialty show) after the :45 minute break, and you can keep up with it on our YouTube page as well. Over the summer we started a YouTube Web Series called, “RSU Radio In Studio.” We invited local artists up to the station, they play us a few songs and we do a little interview as well. It’s our…continue reading →

RSU Radio In Studio: War On Gravity

Recently we started a new webseries at RSU Radio where we talk to local and touring artists and if they have time (and we're lucky enough) they play a couple acoustic songs for us. For our second episode, we got the oppotrunity to talk to local band War On Gravity. These guys are local to an extreme for RSU Radio as 4/5 members are right here from claremore. They talked about the beverage that started the name to the inspiration behind their first single "Tried and True" and what we can expect to…continue reading →

The Stevedores call 91.3

. Recently, The Stevedores were in town playing a show at The Soundpony. They gave us a call and we had a nice conversation. Ranging from the recording process for both albums, their use of Kickstarter, their late lead singer and how they honor him, and finally The Stevedores as a band. Luckily, the whole thing got recorded and you can hear it over at our Soundcloud page.continue reading →

RSU Radio In Studio

Exciting news for RSU Radio, local artists and touring artists. That being we are currently creating a new YouTube video series called RSU Radio In Studio. Here we invited the musician or band up to our station for an interview and a short acoustic set. On Monday, touring artist sami.the.great came by to be the first artist on RSU Radio In Studio and you can check that out here. So, we want to hear from you. Are you a local artist? Are you on tour and passing by the Claremore/Tulsa area? Is this…continue reading →
