Damon Albarn needs no introduction. His work with the animated band, Gorillaz, has solidified him as one of the greats in the world of alternative music. The ability to combine influences of real world situations and the abstract set him apart from the typical songwriter. His conceptual ideas and themes can take the listener to a place that’s familiar and foreign all in the same song. To no surprise, his first solo album Everyday Robots is a journey all its own.

Sonically, the album has the vintage vibes of what people have come to love from Albarn. However, listeners will be pleasantly surprised as they dive deep into this personal record. Each track conveys different parts of Albarn’s life. The song Mr. Tembo is upbeat and swelling with positivity while Hollow Ponds finds Albarn looking back at his childhood in a slow, precise, and calm atmosphere.
