The Basement

Yes you read the title correctly…..Moon Nazi’s.

Back in April, a movie was released internationally called ‘Iron Sky’. A brief synopsis of the film found at www.imdb.com says, “In the last moments of World War II, a secret Nazi space program evaded destruction by fleeing to the Dark Side of the Moon. During 70 years of utter secrecy, the Nazis construct a gigantic space fortress with a massive armada of flying saucers.”

Sound interesting? Maybe a little kooky? Downright silly? Well there’s several trailers for the movie on youtube, one of which you can see here.

Enter Renee Hancock, a young woman from the Tulsa area that is intent on making sure people in Green Country get their chance to view it on the big screen. “I’ve been waiting for this movie to come out for about 3 years. They finally finish it; release it, but not in America. Months later it is released in America – but only in big cities like New York and Los Angeles. It wasn’t being played here, so instead of whining and moaning I decided to take the initiative and make this thing happen here.”

So how does one go about getting an “underground” or independent film to come to Tulsa? Hancock says, “There is a website called www.tugg.com that deals with contacting the movie theater and setting up times and making sure the movie gets to them. All I had to do is promote it and get number of people to pre-purchase the tickets to insure the spot and the screening of the movie.”
