Surviving Mayhem

Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival continues to fill the void that Ozzfest left by bringing heavy music acts across the country for a summer tour. The 2012 lineup in the OKC stop boasted a bit of the old, a bit of the new, and a lot of awesome. Slipknot, Slayer, Anthrax, Motorhead, and As I Lay Dying rocked the main stage this year in what turned out to be a “hot” show in several ways. You know I wouldn’t miss it…so with my trusty cohort, Dr. Drewcifer, and media equipment in tow, we…continue reading →

What I heard, and could kinda see, was Tenacious D!

Saturday I had the opportunity to hear, and kinda see Tenacious D. I say "kinda" because as a short man, being in the pit amongst tall people, the only way to see well is by holding my camera above many heads; but that didn't hinder what I'd say was a great concert. The D opened the night playing the title track from Rize of the Fenix on what appeared to be a bland stage. Halfway through the first song their trademark "Fenix" was erected, transforming the show and becoming the backdrop for a…continue reading →

Cody on moving to NYC (blog 4)

Misconceptions (The Earth is Not a Cold Dead Place) As a follow-up to my advice post about living in NYC, I felt the need to throw in some more personal advice to anyone seriously considering moving to a city like NYC. The old saying “if I can do it, so can you” has never rang more true than with me, since living here isn’t as different or difficult as one may think, and this is coming from a guy that spent most of his teenage life on a farm. Here are two of…continue reading →

Free Randy Blythe

Vocalist Randy Blythe is behind bars today in the Czech Republic because of an incident involving a fan over two years ago. Many fans believe that he is being unfairly held and that the mainstream media is not doing their job; Blythe happens to be the vocalist for one of the more popular Metal bands, Lamb of God. While in Prague last week with the band, he was detained by Police after being questioned on potential charges of manslaughter. The incident stemmed from a 2010 concert when Blythe allegedly caused the death of…continue reading →
