Reggae Fest in Review

After an 11 year hiatus, Tulsa’s original Reggaefest returned with an international lineup. Each day started out slow and hot, but the great music and atmosphere made it well worth the heat. The festival opened with locals Sam and the Stylees, The Rebellion, and Local Hero. The first of the headliners was Jamaican band The Itals. They really set the mood, taking the music back to its roots. Don Carlos was the final act of the evening. He was an original vocalist for the band Black Uhuru, and had a successful solo career…continue reading →

Cody on Living in New York (blog 3)

How to Not Suck at Living in NYC This blog post is not remotely funny. For those here for laughs, that’s your parental advisory warning. Growing up in a small town, I acquired preconceived notions on life in bigger cities, specifically places such as New York City. I assume many younger people unfamiliar with big cities have been given lectures/lessons from older people (i.e. parents) about the dangers of living in an urban area. For anyone curious about living in New York City or anything bigger than where you come from, here are…continue reading →

Cody & the Big Apple (blog 2)

To say that I’ve hit the ground running in New York is the understatement of the century, but I haven’t been running in years (I don’t apologize for terrible jokes like that). For those who are unfamiliar with how…continue reading →

RSU Radio 91.3 FM always enjoys hearing and promoting the local bands in the Oklahoma music scene. Local music is not only a "corner stone" of RSU Radio, but in fact, a community among itself. This Friday, you can show your support for many of the local bands downtown at the IDL Ballroom during the Urban Tulsa Weekly's "NewVo Showcase 2012." Rising local rock bands such as the "Fiddlebacks", "The Bourgeois", "Harvinger", "Dirty Creek Bandits"," Eric Himan", and "We The Ghost" are just a few of the bands that will be playing. Doors…continue reading →
