KCACTF: The Performances Begin

Garrett here from the “The Pelican” state, Louisiana. It’s day three for Josh, David, and I here at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival and we’ve already done a lot.

Yesterday was the first round of the Irene Ryan scholarship competition. The three of us performed, myself as a nominee and David and Josh as partners of Katie Hoffman and Hannah Westlund who were also nominated for the scholarship.

This competition required that we perform a 3 minute or less scene from a play in front of judges. It was an all day competition beginning at 8am and ending at 11pm. Once the judges saw each actor perform they made their decisions on who would move on.

Unfortunately, none of the RSU performers advanced, but we all received strong reviews for our performances.

Today we will be performing a scene from David and Josh’s adaptation of “Sleepy Hollow.” I’m excited to show off that play and I know David and Josh are both excited to see their hard work shown off as well.

More from us soon!
