Garrett Interviews Shiny Toy Guns

Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with Jeremy Dawson, bass player of Shiny Toy Guns. They were in town touring for their newest album "III". I spoke with him about his childhood growing up in Oklahoma, having Carah back on vocals for the first time since their first release, and got his very interesting opinion on Kickstarter. You can check out part 1 and 2 at our Soundcloud page!continue reading →

April Music

April may be known for pranks and tricks, but this April is also a great month for true alternative music. I thought I was being pranked when I was told that the brand new Cold War Kids was being released on April Fool’s Day. “Dear Miss Lonelyhearts” will thrill any Cold War Kids fan with its blues influenced mix and overall catchy tunes like the song “Lost that Easy”. Local favorites, The Flaming Lips, are also making an appearance in April with the release of “The Terror.” Thirty years in the music business…continue reading →

‘Moonrise Kingdom’ at RSU

RSU’s Fine Arts Film Series will present Wes Anderson’s Moonrise Kingdom on April 3 at 7 in the Will Rogers Auditorium. This critically acclaimed film will be shown free and open to the public. Here is what some critics have to say: Though undeniably smart and charming, "Moonrise Kingdom" loves itself the way the callow Holden Caulfield loves himself: unconditionally. Salinger understood the problem with that. Anderson may not. Rafer Guzman,Newsday "Moonrise Kingdom" takes place in a world where everything seems pleasantly faded, where people read crackly-covered library books rather than e-books, and…continue reading →

KCACTF: Performing & Performances

Hey everyone! Garrett, David and Josh here checking in from KCACTF. It’s been a full week, and now that our performances are all done, it’s been time to do some workshops and watch some really great plays. Wednesday night we performed David and Josh’s selected “Sleepy Hollow” scene at the beautiful Strand Theatre in front of many people. We received so many compliments, cheers and applauds for everything, costumes to performance. Now that we are done, we have had the chance to see some plays performed for us. Yesterday we saw a visually…continue reading →

KCACTF: The Performances Begin

Garrett here from the “The Pelican” state, Louisiana. It’s day three for Josh, David, and I here at the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival and we’ve already done a lot. Yesterday was the first round of the Irene Ryan scholarship competition. The three of us performed, myself as a nominee and David and Josh as partners of Katie Hoffman and Hannah Westlund who were also nominated for the scholarship. This competition required that we perform a 3 minute or less scene from a play in front of judges. It was an all…continue reading →

Heavy Rotation, Medium Rotation, Light Rotation, Daytime, Evening, Spice and Recurrent.
