Maryland DeathFest In Review

Hey, RSU Radio fans! It's Dr. Drewcifer of the Industrial Complex and I recently attended the extreme metal Mecca known as Maryland Deathfest. For the past ten years, metalheads worldwide have congregated in Baltimore every May for the country's premier underground metal party. I had high expectations for this year’s festival, and they were all exceeded. Maryland Deathfest brought in a lot of big-name acts from the underground metal world this year, with the lineup included bands like Autopsy, Electric Wizard, Morbid Angel, Agalloch, Napalm Death, Nasum, and Suffocation. The first night of…continue reading →

Failure IS an Option

Growing up we all had some wild dream that, as we got older, realized it may not be possible to achieve, but in the back of our minds it’s still there. Usually different factors go into our realization that it may not be an achievable dream but a common factor is fear. Fear that you may fail at something you’ve always longed to do. What if something came along that not only encouraged you to set out for your dream, but also encouraged you to fail? That is exactly what Morgan Spurlock and…continue reading →

The Dean, I mean Oscar, Goes To…

Greendale Community College may be on an extended winter break at the moment, but Dean Pelton is busy as ever. If you don’t understand that reference, I’ll use layman’s terms. Jim Rash, Dean of Greendale Community College in NBC’s underrated sitcom Community, has been nominated for an Oscar in the Adapted Screenplay category for “The Descendants.” Rash and his writing partner Nat Faxon worked on the project with director Alexander Payne to bring “The Descendants” to the big screen, and now it’s being considered one of the best films of the year. The Descendants…continue reading →

The Art Of Silence

The Circle Cinema, Tulsa’s non-profit independent movie theater, brings us one of 2011’s most critically acclaimed films, “The Artist.” Nominated for six Golden Globes, the most for 2011, “The Artist” takes a look at George Valentin and his concern for his career as movies change from silent to talkies. In “The Artist,” George Valentin, played by French actor Jean Dujardin who won Best Actor at the 2011 Cannes Film Festival for his role, is concerned about how the invention of talkies will change his career. Along the way, he befriends an up-and-coming dancer,…continue reading →

Dark Knight Rises

Earlier this year Christopher Nolan was nice enough to give us a sample of The Dark Night Rises, his final installment of Batman. Audience members who attended the IMAX showing of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol were the first to get a six minute glimpse of what we are in for with this movie; although like most things it has been leaked online now. Most people found the clip interesting and liked what they saw, but, had one major complaint; Bane, the main villain, was hard to understand. Critics and audience members alike claimed…continue reading →

Original ‘Busters are answering the rumors of a third installment for the franchise. It has been rumored since 1990 that there are plans to make a third Ghostbusters movie. Red State… Coming to One Theater Near You

Kevin Smith’s first ever horror movie is already doing scary good, despite not being in theaters yet. “Red State” has been shown only 22 times and already grossed over 1 million dollars. If you haven’t heard of it, you are not the only one; SModcast Pictures, in charge of distributing the film, spent less than 500 dollars on advertising a 15 state tour Smith used to show the film. This may sound like an odd way to showcase a film, but it seems to be working. According to The Daily Dead, based on…continue reading →

No, The Muppets are not covering Weezer’s 2001 album release. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Artists, including Weezer, My Morning Jacket, Sondre Lerche and OK GO have come together to revive many of the Muppets classic songs. The album, which was released August 23, features Weezer and Haley Williams covering “Rainbow Connection,” Amy Lee singing “Halfway Down the Stairs”, and OK GO has the task of covering the “Muppets Show Theme.” OK Go and the Muppets have actually collaborated and given us a music video with almost instant viral status.
