Jason Aldean’s Night Train Tour Review

Jason Aldean rocked a near capacity crowd at the BOK Center on Friday, May 10th that featured several number 1 songs, loud guitars; and an onslought of video screens that doled out imagery pertaining to each song. At the beginning of the show. A;dean entered the arena to the sounds of Audioslave's “Cochise”, hinting at the audience that this is not your granddaddy’s country music show. Aldean roared into his first songs of the evening with up-tempo tracks such as “Crazy Town”, “Take A Little Ride”, and “Tattoos on This Town”. Next the…continue reading →

Garrett Interviews Shiny Toy Guns

Recently, I had the opportunity to sit down with Jeremy Dawson, bass player of Shiny Toy Guns. They were in town touring for their newest album "III". I spoke with him about his childhood growing up in Oklahoma, having Carah back on vocals for the first time since their first release, and got his very interesting opinion on Kickstarter. April Music

April may be known for pranks and tricks, but this April is also a great month for true alternative music. I thought I was being pranked when I was told that the brand new Cold War Kids was being released on April Fool’s Day. “Dear Miss Lonelyhearts” will thrill any Cold War Kids fan with its blues influenced mix and overall catchy tunes like the song “Lost that Easy”. Local favorites, The Flaming Lips, are also making an appearance in April with the release of “The Terror.” Thirty years in the music business…continue reading →

Celebrating Dimebag Darrell

Tulsa celebrated the life of “Dimebag Darrell” with a tribute show Saturday, December 8th at Tankz in Tulsa. In case you were wondering, “Dime” was the guitarist of Pantera (later Damage Plan). He was shot and killed while performing on stage on December 8th, 2004. Since then, cities across the nation have celebrated his life on this day. To put it in perspective, think of “Dime” as the John Lennon to his genre of music. To my knowledge, Tulsa hasn’t had a tribute show done in Dime’s honor in the last 5 years.…continue reading →
