CMJ New York Days 3 & 4

Days 3 and 4 in New York City have been an incredible experience. Through CMJ (College Music Journal) we got to attend a music director's summit. It included a panel of Music Director's (the job Braeton holds at RSU Radio) from all around the United States. We also saw multiple shows that included Francesco Yates, SoMo, and RAC at some of NYC's most entertaining venues. CMJ Day 1 and 2

It has been an eventful past couple of days for us here in New York City. We spent the first day in NYC visiting Times Square seeing the sights of the big city. We tried to find a place to eat that you couldn't get anywhere else but NYC, but Olive Garden was closest so we settled for that. Press Play: Shadow Of Whales

Shadow Of Whales is an alternative pop and rock group that hail from Austin, Texas. Don’t be fooled by the genre label though, these guys know how to mix it up and combine sounds that will have you moving and rocking out. They just released their self titled EP and it’s an inspiring debut. The band consists of members Joshua and Caleb Flores, Jeremy Boyum, Chris Fraga, and JD Vazquez. RSU offers safe, Halloween fun!

RSU’s Student Government Association is once again, along with a number of other RSU student organizations, is sponsoring this year’s annual “Kiddie Karnival”. Now in its 11th year, this safe “trick or treat” with games and activities, will begin Friday night at 6:30pm at the Claremore Recreation Center tennis courts. The carnival is free and open to the public and will include activities, games, prizes and face painting. The movie “The Haunted Mansion” will be shown at 8:30pm. “We’ve been counting down the days since day 150 and we can’t believe it’s finally here…” This year Houston Gaither and Braeton Hightower have traveled to attend the College Music Journal (CMJ) Music Marathon that is being held in New York City. RSU Radio heads back to New York…

The 34th annual CMJ Music Marathon, the world’s most important venue for discovering new music, will soon be underway. It is expected that over 1,400 live shows will perform in more than 80 locations in Manhattan and Brooklyn. October 20th through the 25th, it is predicted that over 120,000 artists, music fans and industry insiders will attend over 100 conference events, parties & performances as well as College Day, an event that is designed specifically for college and non-commercial radio programmers. Remembering our Past….

Where can you hear a medley from The Beatles', "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" and a new setting of "The Star Spangled Banner" in one setting? At RSU’s Annual Fall Concert that will feature the RSU Jazz Ensemble, the University Choir and Concert Band. The concert, free and open to the public, is scheduled for this Tuesday and will begin at 7:30pm in the Will Rogers Auditorium on the Claremore campus. The Student Broadcasting Association's "JAMBAND" is back and this time, the RSU Student Club is featuring the bands "The Fabulous Minx", "FM Pilots" and "The Last Slice". The concert is Friday with the doors opening at 6pm at the Will Rogers Auditorium on the RSU campus. Tickets are $2.00 each and $3.00 for everyone else. The winner will claim the illustrious title of “Fairest on the Hill.” Last year, Jarred Warren represented Residential Life and was crowned “Fairest of Them All.” Warren graduated in 2014 and is disappointed that he can’t defend his crown, but looks forward to passing it on to this year’s champion.
