“Celebrating Oklahoma Roots Music”…an article by RSU Professor, Dr. Hugh Foley will be featured in the Oklahoma Humanities Magazine (winter 2013 edition). The article introduces the upcoming Smithsonian exhibition, "New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music," by sampling the tracks of Oklahoma music. The article highlights Oklahoma's music history dating back to the Native American tribes and traditions of the time, and it closes with contemporary Oklahoma-affiliated country artists such as Carrie Underwood and Blake Shelton. RSU vs. Claremore in a benefit basketball game

Want to see some good basketball? The RSU Athletics staff will take on the Claremore Community all-stars at the “William W. Barnes Children’s Advocacy Center Charity Basketball Game” on Sunday beginning at 2pm at the Expo Center. The Children's Advocacy Center is a non-profit, United Way Agency whose mission is to reduce the trauma of child abuse. The Center provides forensic interviews, medical evaluations and mental health treatment in a safe, child-friendly environment. Rogers State University President Larry Rice has been selected to chair this year’s “Heroes for the American Red Cross” campaign. “Heroes for the American Red Cross” is an annual fund raising program and has helped to improve and aide those effected by disaster. “I’m proud to have been asked to chair this year’s “Heroes for the American Red Cross Campaign. Run with your Sweetheart and Fleet Feet

Fun with your Valentine doesn’t end after the 14th passes. Fleet Feet’s annual Sweetheart Run keeps your heart pounding on Saturday the 16th in downtown Tulsa. The fun begins at the Fleet Feet Blue Dome at 7:45 in the morning with a 5k run. A 10k race and a fun run/walk will follow. Couples are encouraged to sign up to race together at this love-themed event. It may officially be winter, but outdoor fun for spring is in Tulsa with the Tulsa Boat, Sport and Travel Show through Sunday February 3rd. The RSU Fine Arts Film series presents a pre-DVD viewing of Golden Globe winner for Best Picture, Argo. Based on the true story of the 1979 Iran hostage crisis Argo has won critical acclaim and is being called one of the best films of 2012.
